also “who’s who” (the artist who made Ulterior Motives) released the 1985 AOP MIX like the same day the Backrooms movie released. So either they recovered the song before the movie and just held off on releasing it until the movie released or it’s just a very big coincidence 😭😭

i was particularly pleasantly surprised, because it kind of gave me the impression that this is supposed to take place in a universe parralel with ours. remember how when peope discovered the first audio clip of ulterior motives? a bunch of people said that somewhere in another timeline, people are listening to that one and instead trying to figure out where to find the full song of material girl. to me it felt a lot like the movie telling us "this is happening in the world right next to yours" and i think that was awesome
