If you grew up with financial insecurity, or spent your adult life wondering how rent was getting paid, making real money doesn’t always make you want to flex. Sometimes it makes you want to protect it like your life depends on it. That’s how I see it. Some people get money and immediately spend it. Car. Watch. House. Trips. Other people get money and their first thought is: I never want to feel broke again. That reaction is not always scarcity. Sometimes it’s memory. If you’ve lived through instability, money doesn’t just feel like freedom. It feels like protection. And honestly, I think that’s why some people look “cheap” after they start making money.
