@ajnabi._6x: Nowadays ppl act like they've all the knowledge in the world and they've common sense but when it comes to showing basic common sense and kindness to someone in need all of that common sense and "empathy" evaporates. #bystandereffect #advice #petersinger #socialawareness

I think I'm familiar with this one 😅A crowd gathers beneath flickering lights. Everyone sees the same tragedy, yet no one moves. Each soul quietly hands its responsibility to the shadows, believing another will carry the burden. Eyes search other eyes for a signal, but find only hesitation reflected back. In the end, silence becomes a conspiracy of strangers~proof that when responsibility belongs to everyone, it can feel like it belongs to no one. And a practical way to overcome the bystander effect is to directly address one specific person: "You in the blue shirt, call an ambulance" something like that. this makes me see something new about human behavior something like humans won't take a responsibility upon ourselves in situations like this simply because we hate responsibility but when someone specifically gives us this responsibility we take because we. don't wanna feel guilty for not taking it so in the end we all hate consequences how funny 😅

Knowing that people can look right at an emergency and feel absolutely nothing is kinda terrifying.

In public too? Atleast one would've help but, I guess not. It's probably in our nature to be scared about something that could be danger to us. Perhaps it's our survival instinct kicking in but still, to not even think about helping another being just because you don't feel responsible is just too heartless. Then again, would have I done the same if I was there? Would I walk right pass it, Not caring or simply just too scared to get involved? Perhaps I'm just as bad as everyone else huh.

Additional for number 2. Judgment is everywhere. Some people may be afraid to help because they're afraid of being judged or blamed. Some people might say, "Look who's trying to be a hero," or accuse them of having "main character syndrome." Because of this, some people choose not to step in at all. Then comes the blaming. If you fail to save someone, some people might say, "He's trying to be a hero, that's why," instead of thanking you for at least trying to help or save someone.

i think it depends alot on culture and the country, in some cultures people totally avoid talking to strangers or interacting with them unless necessary at all, while in some if something like this happens you'll find everyone rushing to help the person immediately and calling emergency even if they don't know basic first aid, some cultures are more kind and friendly to strangers than others so this phenomenon is more common in some places than other.

Part of it can be the fear of social judgment. I feel like many people have nowadays become comfortable presenting themselves as detached or nonchalant and helping someone publicly may feel like stepping outside that identity. Because people fear embarrassment, mockery, or being labelled as "cringe" they often follow the behavior of the crowd and remain passive. In a sense they are trying to stay within they mold they havr created over the years. When nobody around them is taking action remaining inactjve feels reassuring becuz it confirms their behaviour is "normal". But when one person chooses to act despite that pressure it can make helping seem socially acceptable and encourage others to do the same
