The Officer is correct. The moment they entered a boat vessel on this particular water way gives the Officer probable cause to search. It is not the same as one’s assumed expectation of privacy on the highways. The focus is first on public safety, and then Law Enforcement. 🙏

I personally am glad that officers check for boating, safety equipment, and check for licenses. It only takes a few minutes to produce these items. If you're a true outdoorsman, you would cooperate knowing that when people are checked that don't have licenses. They are fine. This ensures that our children and grandchildren will have fish to catch. Believe me there are plenty of people that do not follow game laws and back limits, which hurts the fishery.
