Don't forget while making the layers of carbon fibre. if there was a bump in the layers, they sanded it down. Breaking more of the strands and making even more weak points.

Didn't Stockton Rush also use "expired" carbon fiber too? Like it was uncured carbon fiber sheets rolls past the shelf life he bought from Boeing at a deep discount.

Carbon fiber. They left exposed outside all the time. To sea air even. And then never checked it. That integrity was compromised as hell

carbon fiber is good with pressure inside, terrible with pressure outside

He built it knowing that experts advised against carbon fiber too, right?

Carbon fiber? You mean the thing they make cars out of because of the “crunch factor” where the material itself will absorb the impact and is literally designed to break? That wasn’t supposed to be put in a high-pressure environment? WILD

If you watch ANY of the documentaries or education videos on the sub, they all say that it's because the carbon fiber.

very much the Futurama joke when they're going under water and its like "we're under 400 atmospheres of pressure, how many atmospheres can this ship handle?" "well its a space ship so, between 0 and 1"

So basically the structural strength was from the resin between the fibers.

also, he left it parked in a parking lot, uncovered, during winter in Seattle, WA. not smart.

the other issue you missed is that titanium and carbon fiber can be bonded together no problem BUT when the two of them bonded together and placed in salt water galvanic corrosion is accelerated and basically makes a really shitty battery.
