Literally the worst nightmare of my life but i actually think they felt for him when he said he was in foster care. I want to believe they didnt write it down and would have given him a second chance to try again to get Lena back.

this scene made me realize that people around him saw him as just another possibly aggressive man with a glare that made him look dangerous and a stance that made him look even more dangerous. They don't see the man we empathize with througouth the story, for them this is a potentially dangerous/angry family member who had the kid taken from them *for a reason* and his attitude could be the why 😭😭😭 Even when he was the sweetest to Lena making any food for her just because she might eat it instead of forcing her to eat, keeping guard on her door in case she had a nightmare, the man was doing his very fcking Best and it. wasn't. enough. 💔😭

What I want to know is Lena was being taken care of albeit a few problems that Pope was handling and she got taken away from him but Smurf abuses her kids and DCFS never took them away.
