@aniksingal: Microsoft told 100,000 engineers to stop using AI. Not because it didn’t work. Because it cost more than the engineers themselves. Microsoft rolled out an AI coding tool company-wide. Adoption exploded. Then the bills arrived — so large they told engineers to stop using it by end of June. The tool they helped fund with $5 billion. They’re not alone. Uber burned through their entire 2026 AI budget by April. Some engineers were spending $2,000 a month just in AI bills. Then NVIDIA, the company selling the chips powering all this AI...their own VP admitted AI costs more than hiring actual humans. That’s like Nike saying their own shoes cost too much to wear. For two years every CEO promised AI would slash costs. Wall Street believed it. But the companies actually running AI at scale are quietly pulling back — because the math doesn’t work yet. The story being sold publicly isn’t the one playing out behind closed doors. Does this surprise you, or did you see it coming? Save this — this conversation is just getting started. #MicrosoftAI #AIcosts #TechNews #AIBubble #aniksingal
I think the engineers do this on purpose to force the cost to go up to protect themselves 😭😂😭😂😭😂

That’s not accurate. Microsoft is not banning AI in general. What was reported is that Microsoft is cutting many internal Claude Code licences and moving employees over to GitHub Copilot CLI. That’s about cost control and tool standardisation, not stopping AI work.

You don't make sense. At one point you say "AI is costing more that humans" then in end you said, "AI at most costed them 2000$ per person they replaced" which is no way near the salary of computer engineers. Beside this, Microsoft didn't get rid of AI, they just moved to their own AI platform (copilot) to be more cost efficient. You are giving false hope to people that their job are secured. No! the AI threat is as relevant as it was before this news.

AI energy costs are too high. Unless we find cheap energy, there's no way AI can be used cheap.
