I truly wish every person that travels to our beaches and or really any beach is well informed about the rip currents and undertow! For the rip currents understanding to stay calm and swim with the shore don’t fight against it, for the undertow if you do not have strong body strength to keep yourself up then immediately exit the water before it pulls you down. So glad you made it out safe we have had a lot of drownings and missing people this summer alone. Also, NEVER EVER EVER EVER swim in the far north end where the drive in beach is at the inlet!!!!!! Matter fact DONT ever swim at an inlet it’s not meant for humans to play it’s meant for boats!

Girlie! We just got here and one person passed away today and another is missing (presumed deceased) up here on North Topsail Beach just a few miles up. Two separate drownings. The currents are wicked bad. 😭

Girl, I’m here right now and had no idea the currents were this bad! Me and two of my friends (all strong swimmers) got caught in a rip current and honestly thought we weren’t going to make it out for a minute. It was so scary! Thankfully, we were able to get out safely! What was wild is that the current was only in the area where we were swimming and just a few yards away, people were swimming like nothing was wrong 😭

Me and my sister got caught in a rip current when I was 6, she was 8. We got super far out until my mom noticed and sent my grandpa out to get us. I was genuinely so terrified
