It has a different reason actually: FIFA told Uruguay to remove the two stars and didn’t gave them a special permission to use the two stars… so Uruguay officially added two stars to their emblem and told fifa that those two stars are part of the design 😅

Olympics don't count at all since professional players are not allowed. Furthermore both of Urugay's wins have massive asterisks. 1930 and 1950 are the only two world cups to only have 13 teams (the lowest in history) and not have a proper knockout. 1930 Went from group (of 3) to semifinal and 1950 didn't even have knockouts. Uruguay never won anything resembling a world cup format we know (all world cups inbetween had proper format). They should only wear 1 star since they won two half cups.

Look, I'm not saying that they are officially 4 times world champions, but when they won the 1950 WC, everybody called them "Four time world cup Champions" because to that point, Fifa still considered the 2 Olympics that they organized as the world cup as valid. So it's not like Uruguay one day decided to add 2 new stars to their badge, it was the rest of the world that decided that those 2 stars where invalid.
