@theonlycanadianbacon: Replying to @Novxvb The more you know Sources: • CREA: Canadian average home price peaked at ~$816,700 (Feb 2022) and was ~$695,400 (Apr 2026) — about a 15% decline, not 30%. • RBC Economics: National MLS Home Price Index remains about 20% below the 2022 peak. • Reuters: Canadian home prices have fallen roughly 20% from peak levels, not 30%. • CREA: National average home price was actually up 2.2% year-over-year in April 2026.

I am a Realtor in Edmonton Alberta. CREA bases it's numbers for homes across Canada. Because areas like Toronto and Vancouver have such high housing costs it skews the numbers. There has been a slight drop in the numbers for those areas which is good because they were out of control. However, in the greater Edmonton area, it is the opposite. Housing prices are actually rising each month.

Seems like the only prices that have fallen, are the high end , high profit homes. The average Joe home is still way overpriced. Nobody cares about that though.

A friend of mine moved from just outside Toronto to Niagara Falls and it wasn’t much cheaper. What she paid for her house in NF is exorbitant compared to houses in the US.

House prices going down would be a problem in the US. That’s a serious loss of wealth for the middle class.
