Sicily is one of the most historically rich places in the world. I’ve been visiting since the late 1990s, and you can feel its history in the food, architecture, language, and people. My family is from Milazzo and Lipari. Last summer, parts of The Odyssey—the new Matt Damon film due out this summer—were filmed there, including Lipari in the Aeolian Islands and Favignana. Truly a unique and diverse island with an incredible history.

I was waiting for Siracusa?? Which is one of the oldest cities, born in 734-733 B.C. home of the mathematician Archimedes, has a Greek theatre and hosts the myth of Aretusa

Messina has the Lion atop of the Catherdral as a timepiece. Agrigento has a better temple than Athens. Both one of a kind😁

Some great suggestions. I would add the Norman Cathedrals in Monroyale and Cefalù, as well as Ortigia. As for cannoli, we read that the best were in Erice. I loved the cannoli there.

The Strait of Messina is so interesting! Also if you’re in Torre Faro, usually around 18:00 you can clearly see the two different sea mix and creating a strong current. You can be in the water close to the beach and the water will take you forward.

It is “believed” to have been the home of sea monsters??? You better BELIEVE it — those civilizations had no need or reason to lie…

Its so overrated. It was dirty, Many buildings were forgotten to restore. Only the food and the people were great
