If I read it and like it: KUDOS. If I read it and don’t like it: KUDOS. If I’m compelled to open a fic in the first place: KUDOS. If I open it by accident simply bc it’s within my search perimeters: KUDOS. If someone feeds me out of their own kitchen, I might not clean my plate, but I’m damn well gunna thank them for the meal.

It's instinctual at this point. I'll finish a chapter that I'm subscribed to and have been for awhile and if the chapter was really good I go to hit the kudos button only to realize I already left Kudos. It takes nothing to leave a kudos. Even on fics I only got halfway on but acknowledged I read a good portion of I manually scroll down to leave a kudos.

I’m writing for the love of the game, and fanfiction is what I do in my spare time. It’s rediculouse for people to expect the same level of writing as someone who’s doing at as their JOB. Also Good Reads doesn’t go directly to the author, but comments and kudos on AO3 do.

I hear people argue ‘But if you give them kudos/ don’t critique them then they won’t get better’ when it reality getting no kudos / no nice comments would have made me stop writing and then I never would have improved. If you like it leave a kudos / nice comment (even a heart or smiley face). Old fic new fic doesn’t matter. If you don’t like it… well just stop reading. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m a little frustrated I can’t kudos a work I reread but I also have no suggestion for how to alter the kudos system without it turning into a 5 star rating so I don’t complain😅

I have a habit of leaving Kudos as soon as I download a work. If it interested me enough to make me want to read it, then it has already earned a Kudos from me. After I've actually read it, I'll usually come back and leave a comment. That's just the way I do things. 😅

If I find myself re-reading a fic, especially all the way through again, I will leave a little comment, even if it just says something like "I've read this twice now, good work!".
