75 grand isn't a lot for a professional in London.

£75,000 is not their basic wage, that amount comes after working lots of overtime and Holidays etcetera. Never assume the numbers you see in the published media and TV are accurate when talking about industrial action by workers. Also the disagreements are often about working hours terms and conditions. If you have not, or do not work shifts you cannot comment on these matters. These are the people that enable you to get in to work before 6am and home after midnight from a concert or the theatre etc.

Honestly I don't think anyone understands why one union will accept the agreement and one won't and it all seems to be about the meaning of the implementation of voluntary, what voluntary means and how voluntary is applied. Confused? You will be after this episode of 'Tube Strikes!'

owenthomas632 :
if you just listen to the media every strike is 100% about pay. when you actually look at them they are almost always mostly about conditions, safety and having enough staff to do the job.

If tube drivers deciding to not work for a day can cause all this chaos, maybe they aren’t paid enough.

Or a sign that unions are antiquated. If you think they're powerful now, you should have been around in the UK in the 1970s when we still had general elections for a government, who then spent the next 4-5 years being bullied by unelected, unaccountable officials in meetings held in secret.
