What if your spouse didn’t want your name on the loan because the interest rate would have been higher, and it is in their name only?

What happens when the spouse is purposely not paying the mortgage and your name is on the mortgage as well? I’m afraid I won’t be able to get into a place if the house goes into foreclosure

It is exhausting and torturous living together after separation, we’ve been doing it for over five months now. The constant criticism, attitude, and stress is psychological torture. It is 10 times worse than when we were together.

This isn’t universally true. Whether moving out is a mistake depends on the circumstances, state law, safety, children, and advice from an attorney. There are situations where staying can make things worse.

yeah, that’s really easy to say if you’re not dealing with a fucking narcissist sometimes the only thing you can do is still leave the house because nothing is gonna go in a safe matter

We were separated my belongings stayed in the marital home, and I continued depositing my paychecks into our joint, checking account and continue paying bills on the marital home so that’s not necessarily true. I had to leave because it was a hostile environment, but I paid the mortgage and all household bills up until I filed for divorce.

How about this, staying in the marital home can lead to her, calling the police and saying you hit her, even though none of that happened, now you are permanently banned from the house, but you’re still paying for it and then she moves her new boyfriend into the house…

if the situation is high conflict and the possibility of domestic viruses or abuse, get out of the house. not worth the money to stay.

This is not right, and this is exactly why lots of women stay till they got hurt or gone. Bad advice.

“Never move out” may protect a legal position, but it can destroy a family’s peace. My children and I lived through seven months of emotional hell because of advice like this. Lawyers should warn people about the human cost, not just the legal one.

As a family law attorney, I concur. Do not do ANYTHING unless there’s an order in place first.
