@russian.explained: Right now I’ll explain to you What’s the difference? Here’s the clue: Сажусь or сижу? Ложусь or лежу? In Russian, one is an action, and one is a state. Я сижу = I am sitting Literal: I sit / I am in a sitting position Я сажусь = I am sitting down Literal: I am making myself sit / I am moving into a sitting position Я лежу = I am lying Literal: I lie / I am in a lying position Я ложусь = I am lying down Literal: I am moving into a lying position So remember: сижу / лежу = position now сажусь / ложусь = movement into that position Examples: Я сижу на стуле. I am sitting on the chair. Literal: I sit on the chair. Я сажусь на стул. I am sitting down on the chair. Literal: I am moving myself onto the chair. Я лежу на кровати. I am lying on the bed. Literal: I lie on the bed. Я ложусь на кровать. I am lying down on the bed. Literal: I am moving myself onto the bed.
