That’s kind of my back yard and I haven’t spent any time exploring it, I generally spend my time in the Zunis on trails seeing where I can go or how far I can get before they become impassible to a jeep.

I grew up in Quemado, and have been driving through this my whole life. I’ve heard tons of different wild stories about El Mapais, from explorers falling into crevasses, and bubbles created from the lava flow, to Spanish Armor and gold being hidden in a tube system, to an outlaw from the area hiding bodies out there. Place has tons of wild history!

you should go to the fire and ice caves that are out there and it's legal to go all the way up to the Arch. we do it all the time theres a trail but its steep
