A viewer snapped a photo of the screen and posted it online, where it got some local attention at the time. The story mostly faded away until 2026, when someone shared the original photos again along with AI-generated English translations. That allowed people outside Iceland to finally understand just how absurd the subtitle mix-up actually was.
