Ironically it turns out human capital is a relatively fixed cost and if you make people do more work you just buy them pizza, but if you make AI do more work it charges you more.

Personally, I think their capital spend on AI data center build out is out of control and they need to find the money someplace. Reducing their labor cost, they think will solve that. It won’t.

a lot of these companies are just using AI as a scapegoat for the mass layoffs they've been wanting to do, but were afraid people would see it as a sign the company is shrinking and thus losing value. so they blame AI to make it look like they're innovating.

Idk, it just looks like AI isn't really eliminating jobs. The employers are just firing/terminating people and making the workers they keep do the work of another employee with AI there to help fill in the gaps.

I seriously don't believe that very many jobs are being replaced by AI yet. customer service and tech support maybe. afaic what's really going on is offshoring.

Ai is a cover for the layoff reason. Ai is real but the market price and economy numbers are inflated. Real people are spending less and companies need to layoff with out hurting their stock price.
