@mike_on_parenting: “Good job!” isn’t bad… It just doesn’t tell a child what they did well. When our praise is specific, kids can actually identify the behavior and repeat it in the future. Instead of: 👉 “Good job!” Try: ✅ “You kept trying even when it was hard” ✅ “You let her go first without anyone asking” ✅ “I heard you say you weren’t ready instead of crying” The goal isn’t to never say “good job” again. Your kids will survive if Grandma says it. 😄 Just becoming a little more intentional with behavior specific praise can help your child understand exactly what they’re doing that you’d like to see more of.
