@art_rki: I knew if we bought anything at Art Busan, I wanted to take you along for the ride a bit - I learned a lot by experiencing, trial and error, and making mistakes and I wish I would have had something straightforward to watch as someone walked through it so I wanted to be deliberate about filming this. Cindy Suh was SO gracious with her time and allowing me to film the interaction and ask questions to her throughout the purchasing process. We brought home 활기냥 / Bow Hunting by 전호태 Jeon Ho-tae, a lacquer work I fell in love with while talking with gallerist Cindy Suh of Moowoosoo Gallery in Seoul. It was affordable, beautifully made, and exactly the kind of piece that reminds me you don't need an unlimited budget to start an incredible art collection. Everything we purchased hovered +/- 4,000 USD, so not cheap, but also not in the millions like is so often assumed. Also, what people don't always see is how many people make a single art purchase possible, especially in this situation where my Korean vocabulary doesn’t extend as far as I would like (though I sure tried!) The artists, gallerists, fair staff, and organizers are all working hard together behind the scenes. Art Busan is especially impressive in that regard as it felt so seamless and the hospitality and grace shown to a small-fry collector like me was unmatched. From the gallery teams to the fair organizers, there's a huge amount of coordination that goes into creating an event where thousands of people can discover and buy contemporary art. A special thank you to Jong Lee of Gallery Mumo, who packed and shipped every piece we purchased at the fair. Some art fairs offer packing services, but this level of care and customer service was extraordinary and genuinely some of the best I've experienced in the art world. Even though I don't work in the art world professionally, being at an art fair carries a kind of joy that's hard to explain. There's something special about spending a day surrounded by artists, galleries, collectors, my family, and people who simply love art. It’s one of the best corners of my life. #ArtBusan #ArtFair #ArtCollector #ContemporaryArt #ArtCollection

This is very helpful! The art world feels so overwhelming so it’s nice to be given a bit of a “step-by-step”

Love seeing this, especially since there is so much ‘mystery’ in the art market. It’s great to see people who are passionate about art and keep it moving 🫶🏽

once someone asks me in the gallery about a painting I did, I said:
what do you see? I don't paint what I see, I paint what I want others to see .
then he bought it.

im not a native english speaker and i know its super unrelated but where is the accent from? the gallerist has a very specific way of intonation, and you also share some of that intonation, i just like to recognize different accents and it'd be really helpful to saciate my curiosity :)
