@martin4sussexmayor: I’ve recently had solar panels installed on my roof - not to make a big statement, but just to do my bit and reduce my carbon footprint. It’s made me think, though - if we can get more panels on more roofs across Sussex, the impact could be huge. Lower energy bills. Less pressure on the grid. And a real contribution to reducing emissions - all from space we already have above our heads, doing nothing apart from keeping us dry. I’m very aware it’s not an option for everyone. There’s an upfront cost, and of course, many people don’t own their homes or have a suitable roof. But where it is possible, it feels like a sensible step - not just environmentally, but economically - and it feels great to get energy for free too. The more we can support practical, realistic ways of doing this - for homeowners, businesses and even community buildings - the better. Small changes, multiplied across thousands of roofs, can make a big difference.
