It mentions a specific land called Cush, which scholars have variously associated with regions in northeast Africa (including areas of modern Sudan and Ethiopia) or, according to some interpretations, elsewhere in the ancient Near East. The passage is describing the geography around the Garden of Eden, not naming the African continent. So, according to Genesis 2, a land called Cush is mentioned, and some translations or traditions connect Cush with Ethiopia. But Genesis 2 does not state that Africa’s original name was Ethiopia.
