As a jeweller as soon as you said the price it had to be hollow or super thin, that price is not a lot for gold at all. It shouldn’t break though.

In Australia if a product is not fit for purpose, you are entitled to an exchange or refund, your choice. Does UK not have such consumer protection ?

Doesn’t matter if it’s even made of lead, if it’s faulty you are entitled to a refund (not a score credit) contact consumer affairs. Demand a refund and you’ll be reporting them to consumer affairs, they’ll probably cough up.

my engagement ring had to be taken back 13 times due to stones falling out from weak clasps. in the end they replaced it with the same design as my request and it has been fine for 10 years now. they tried saying cos I wear it every day... who doesn't wear their engagement ring every day 🙄

I was in a jewellers the other day and I asked how many grams of gold I was buying in the chain I liked. I was told that they don’t measure the grams. Like hell they don’t. They just don’t tell us as the chains are just such poor quality.

oh its not just whitfords. Joondalup is the same. I brought gold hoop earrings that cost $199 for them to snap apart. Went in to be told id never brought them from them even though I had a receipt. They made out I lied etc. Will never buy from them cheap crap.
