AI can actually be a very useful tool for the neurodivergent community to relieve mental load we often carry due to the high volume of information we rapidly take in at a time.

As a high IQ ADHD individual: my obsession with my sports teams comes from a very analytical/statistical side of my brain.

This is fascinating, do you have any research or peer reviewed studies I can look into?

When someone makes a generalization and uses words like “always” or “never”, noting an exception to the generalization is not a lack of abstract thought. It’s acknowledging that the truth is more nuanced. It’s not denying that the generalization has any value, just that it’s not airtight.

I agree mostly except the AI one. As someone with ADHD I find ai is quite helpful for me to complete my interests and goals in personal projects like programming. Although if it's study and work getting AI to do it all for you that is definitely agreeable

I disagree about the AI! Many assistive apps or programmes designed to support neurodivergent individuals are AI. AI is also my best friend at work as it supports me with tasks that would take me ages to do or find challenging because of my ADHD 🥰

As a late diagnosed AuDHD woman I have to admit that I felt a bit attacked by the negativity about AI and celebrities for a moment. But then I thought "Well, I don't use AI for everything, but for personal development and recognition of my own patterns. And hyperfocusing on a particular artist or actor/actress doesn't take away from my intelligence. And I don't have to be friends with everyone, if we like different stuff." 😁

I just don't accept that the term intelligence has a specific definition. If you look at each individual example you gave as not intelligent, they could be framed as a difference in personal interests. We now know that tests for IQ are not meaningful. We acquire a social assumption around individual traits, e.g., poor memory, low academic or intellectual interest, a lack of curiosity, poor debating skills, lack of familiarity with critical analysis or reading comprehension etc.. But it isn't an explicit definition. Often, intelligence is conflated with education. And education is an advantage or privilege. You cannot uniformly quantify something that is not universally available.

All of this. Anecdotal arguments are the worst. I also use AI to get through simple tasks. It helped me plant a garden. It’s a huge shortcut when I know what I want but I can’t bring myself to just do it.
