@in.good.hands.collective: Here’s why I caution against pouches: They don’t offer much variety in terms of oral motor and sensory development, which is huge for new feeders learning their mouth. Depending on how often you’re using pouches, they can be a tool that either supports better feeding skills or hinders it. Variety means we are changing the shape, texture, smell, flavor, messy vs not messy, drinkable vs chewable, and consistencies of the food we provide. Whether you’re doing all purées or baby-led weaning (or both), there are plenty of opportunities for modifying how you serve it, what utensils are used, and how much independence you let baby have to get the variety we’re looking for! For more guidance on this, you’ll want to check out my Starting Solids resource in my profile 😋 #startingsolids #blw #babyledweaning #puree #babyfeeding
