@elly.psychologist: Setting boundaries can feel uncomfortable, especially if you are used to putting others first. But setting boundaries is about protecting your wellbeing, not being selfish. Start by getting clear on why your boundary matters and what you are protecting. Communicate it simply and do not feel you have to explain yourself or manage someone else’s reaction. It is normal to feel anxious or uneasy at first. Over time, setting boundaries helps you build self-trust and feel more secure in your relationships. Those who respect you will respect your boundaries too #settingboundaries #boundaries #settingboundariesisselfcare #boundariesarehealthy #relationshiptok

Thank you 🌺 that was very clear 😊 if you keep having to tell a person to stop disrespecting you you are trying to control that persons behavior, right? You have to make a decision 🤔 how frustrating it is to have to keep telling someone to stop doing something repeatedly reminding them that that action is so disrespectful.

And don’t forget to include God in the boundaries decision. He has the final word, NOT us. 🙏🏽

Genie In A Nutshell :
I would appreciate a little advice from anyone who has been through something similar. Over many years, I've experienced a great deal of trauma from 6 years old. Then at 26, I found out the man I believed was my biological father was not, and at 55 I still don't know who my biological father is. I've been through four marriages, with the first three ending because I chose to leave. My current marriage is different one week my husband wants to leave, the next he wants to stay, and the uncertainty is emotionally exhausting. There have been many other challenges along the way: our car was stolen with personal belongings, house keys, and documents inside; my children have struggled with drug addiction and rehabilitation; our family dog was injured as a result of people being owed money for drugs; family relationships have broken down after I wrote an autobiography that some relatives did not want me to publish; and my eldest son no longer speaks to me and has prevented me from seeing my grandchildren. Recently, I spent a few days in hospital and have started seeing a psychologist. I'm trying to work through everything, but I often feel broken, confused, and emotionally drained. What I struggle to understand is how family members can block and unblock you repeatedly, or how someone can say they want to leave and then change their mind over and over. It feels like I'm constantly on an emotional roller coaster. Has anyone experienced something similar? How did you find stability and peace when the people around you seemed so unpredictable?
