I was a very difficult teenager, often got into arguments with teachers and other authority figures- but NEVER with the adults in my life who treated me as an equal though, the teachers who offered me freedom to be myself within the limits allowed of course and who talked to me like a human being instead of someone who is under them for being young. I’m still in touch with them years later. People forget that kids have lives and thoughts and feelings and motivations, if a kid is being “bad” or acting up there’s a reason, have a conversation like an adult instead of resorting to discipline. Being yelled at doesn’t make ANYONE want to listen to you no matter what age

this is exactly my approach and it really DOES work! I wish more people thought like us rather than blaming the kids - help them by empowering them to make the right choices, but they need to understand why and make them for their own reasons. Loved this video!

This applies to toddlers as well! After finishing my studies, I changed nurseries. Many of the children in my new group had learned that their opinions didn’t matter. At first, whenever I asked them to do something, like putting away a toy they would run away or immediately start crying and screaming when I approached them. Over time, they learned that when I came to them, it was to talk and understand why they didn’t want to do something. Most of the time, simply explaining why I was asking was enough for them to cooperate. When it wasn’t, we would work together to find a solution that suited both of us. Young children are much smarter and more understanding than many people give them credit for. We just need to give them the chance to show us!!

I'm not gonna lie, it helps that you are extremely engaging conversationalist so you probably get the kids locked in when you talk! 😊

I was that kid in scouting 😂 when explained what we where going to do I was like nah im gonna do something else 😂 ( my bf and sister in law where leaders there so they still tease me how enoying I was haha). but i really needed the time to do what I wanted I had a hard time at home and school so scouting was a safe space where I felt like I could have fun in my own way 😅 now im performing and giving workshops to kids as well but I find it super challenging when they dont listen. im gonna try! thanks 🙏
