I genuinely think it’s because you’ve been spoilt by some of her best writing in the books you’ve read. I started with Daisy Jones and the Six and that was my hook into TJR. From there I went to the Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and I was desperate for more. I skipped over Malibu Rising because the storyline of Carrie Soto had a greater pull and knowing the TJR universe doesn’t really require reading chronologically, I figured I could go there next and when I did; I was disappointed. Not to the point of giving up, but I wasn’t feeling it and in finishing it I just felt a bit “meh”.

Fully agree. I started with Atmosphere, which will be difficult to top. Loved Seven Husbands as well, but just finished Malibu Rising and I didn’t dislike it, but it wasn’t as impactful as the other two books of her I have read. I’m also trying to space her books out because I do love them and want to read them with my want to really FEEL
