I got a question, do you actually retain all or most of the significant information, arguments, schools of thoughts, systems of reasoning etc. of those books you have read? I myself am pursuing MA in philosophy right now and I read one book a month with maximum concentration so I can understand it as profoundly as I can, and I also read some articles recommended by my lecturers. Maybe I just lack experience in reading while comprehending quickly and adequately?

Taylor’s Hegel is great. Was published at a time where virtually no Hegel studies were being published in English. I got my PhD from a heavy pragmatism department (phenomenology too), mainly Dewey, James, and Peirce. Weren’t big fans of the neo pragmatists like Rorty.

My undergraduate was mainly Logical Positivist, but my masters was Post Modern. I like your book recommendation, I think I need to try out some Pragmatist. My current book I am reading is Meaning by Michael Polanyi and Harry Prosch.

The funny part is many pragmatists just depict religions that already exist. I would love to learn more about it but it just seems like “we should base or beliefs of what’s best and logic”, isn’t this just an intrinsic principle that humans possess?
