My grandmother was a teacher. When she got married, she was fired because married women weren’t meant to work. She wanted to work though, so she was immediately re-hired at 50% of her former salary. This was her. She also opened the very first preschool in Vancouver which is still running today.

I was laughing with my nonna, talking about how I broke up with my boyfriend a couple weeks ago. She asked me I'll ever date again. My siblings and I were homeschooled by evangelical Christians. My sister was raised to be a trad wife and nothing more. Unfortunately, her husband doesn't earn enough for that lifestyle, and a decade or so ago she called me up sobbing because she had to get a job. It was only part-time, but it was enough to devastate her as she viewed it as a failure on her part. I will never forgive my mother for doing that to her.

Traditional values mean that the guy has to make enough for the wife to be a stay at home mom. The same types asking for a body count are hypocrites (nothing traditional about their own body counts) and gold diggers expecting women to earn 50/50 AND do everything at home.
