I don’t want a “classic” server progression. The only thing I would want for D2 at this point is a full update to the old content and unvault it all. And then make all the original drops available up to the current max light level. But the whole reason they vaulted it and started sunsetting in the first place was because they just didn’t want to put in the effort to update it. So if they’re not willing to even do that now, then there is no way they would make a “classic” progression server.

The whole reason it was sunset was because the engine overhaul in beyond light required a lot of systems to be rebuilt in some way and at this point likely from the ground up if they wanted to “just unvault” stuff

I think the best answer is to do a “destiny infinity” and have it start with all or at least most (witch queen forward) of the current content and release with shattered cycle and maybe even the alchemist too depending on dev time. Have a new a more stable engine with some new things added. And then when they need more time to work on a new bigger expansion, or during the down time between big yearly expansions, release an old piece of content from D1 or D2 until you have the entire story of Destiny under one game finally.

I agree that they may not even be able to do it. These are the same guys that had like a 24-hour surveillance on the Telesto gun in case it started breaking the game again
