@jordanatheresa: One of the best and most heart wrenching documentaries I've watched in a while about the tragic case of Joyce Vincent - Dreams Of A Life dir. Carol Morley I watched on @British Film Institute player
Saddest story ive ever heard, she was wrapping presents for people who didn't even care about her

Her bills did not go unpaid. She had money in her accounts and the rent was being paid until she finally ran out of funds. That’s why it took so long to realize what happened.

Dreams of a Life is one of those documentaries that really stays with you. Now in my 30s, on reflection I think watching it as a teenager had a real impact on how I choose to live my life now - living in close proximity to friends and family, having weekly volunteering responsibilities in a mix of groups, not being a total stranger with my neighbours. It's too sad to think I could die tomorrow and not one person raise an alarm. RIP Joyce ❤️

None of her family reached out after a couple of days? If I don’t hear from at least one family member at the very least every other day I will ring them and if they don’t answer I panic. Oh this is so sad.

I can’t believe her workplace did not think anything happened??? Management did not check on her?

you can say a 1000 times "she clearly had loved ones", but reality is reality.

I’m jealous of all the comments that find this so unbelievable. I’m not quite there but in a slightly worse situation this could be me. Not everyone has a caring family.

People must’ve hated her. Because after at least two weeks to a month of not hearing from somebody, you have to send help. Send the police.

I'm kinda surprised ppl would have trouble understanding how this is a fate of probably dozens of millions of people in this world. Their disappearance would either largely go unnoticed or completely unnoticed. Maybe it's the social media that warps our feeling of being present and perceived in the world, dunno.

I was a forever foster kid so I don't have family to check in on me and unfortunately my friends hardly spare a thought for me outside of their relationships. I'm always the one reaching out to people but people don't really reach out to me unless they need something. I'm afraid this is what will happen to me. :/
