I think more than anything, women want to see whether creators like Wizard Liz and the Hot Chef Lady not only take accountability for their role in what happened, but also demonstrate real growth afterward. Many of us have watched friends and family repeat the same painful cycles, often hurting not only themselves but also their loved ones and even previous partners who were harmed by the same person. At a certain point, people become less concerned with the mistake itself and more interested in whether anything was actually learned from it. Accountability matters, but growth is what shows the lesson stuck.

She’s said everything except “I projected onto a person I knew for a few days”. I get it, in that I also thought I knew someone in three months. But now I tell women you cannot know who a person is in that short time. I have a family member who also says she got tricked 20 years in, but there had been signs and red flags from the first two weeks and she didn’t want to hear it from us. The lack of self reflection and deflection to “I just love deeply” is dangerous.

Oh man if I was humiliated by my partner that I defended endlessly online I might fall off the face of earth. I could imagine being too ashamed and insecure to admit that I was wrong. Like salt on the wound. That’s tough. I’m glad I at least listen sometimes….

My last ex did not like that I wasn’t ‘head over heels in love’ by the way he would slip that phrase into conversation to things like me saying, “you know what I realised?” and this is exactly why I held back! I’ve made that mistake in the past of parading a man like he’s the best thing since sliced bread to later discover he’s like all the others - just in different font. I was much more logical and guarded with this relationship because, you know, when you’ve been burned a few times you change the way you handle things, and needless to say glad I was!
