I would change the phrasing a little bit. instead of saying it will take another day. I would say, "oh, sure, I can schedule this for X day and the cost will be $×,××× for planting and etc". if the house manager says they dont have the budget for that. I would reply, "I'm sure you'll find a way to get it done." this leaves the house manager with the task at hand instead of her attempt to make it your problem. she can either find the money to pay you or find someone else to pay for the service. it also sets in stone that you're not to be taken for a fool.✌

Yes, they exist in a bubble where they think you're doing it because you want to. Management asked me if I was happy at that company. I was like, what do you mean? It's a job people need income. Small company 60 staff that didn't hire often and existed in a bubble.
