@healthbyroman: Quick safety tip: If you use syringes at home, don’t toss them loose into a trash bag where they could injure you, a family member, sanitation workers, or anyone handling the trash. A puncture-resistant container with a secure lid is generally a much safer option for temporary storage. Always check your local laws and disposal regulations, as requirements vary by state and municipality. A dedicated sharps container is preferred when available. I've been donating them to my local homeless community instead 🤝

Empty laundry detergent tubs or protein barrels work great too. Hard plastic is best

In healthcare, there is a strict rule never to replace the cap on a used needle (this is called recapping). Replacing the cap is, in fact, the primary cause of needle stick injuries

In Australia we don’t have a trash man. No one touches our rubbish. The automated trucks collect it. But I can see how you would need this idea.
check your local pharmacy. I can get a sharps container for free. then when its full..bring it back and exchange for a new sharps 😁

A lot of medical facilities have a bin somewhere inside where you can drop off sharps containers. I know for veterans there is one usually on the main floor.
