@msangelasue: **This is not click bait. As of today Mr. Eastwood is alive. This is about what we should be thinking about, taking care of our older generation. I don’t know if Clint Eastwood said anything about Getting Old. But, as intelligent as he was it would not surprise me. He is one of the Greatest of all Time.” Hopefully, the hateful comments will stop.*** Just know, I see you, I hear you. Let’s lift each other up, help one another, love one another, be gentle and most of all kind. Kindness is a wonderful legacy to leave behind.~ASH Aging is not gentle. You are still here. Still present. Still watching the world move. But the body that carried you through everything — the wars, the work, the wildness of youth — begins to ask for more than you can give it. Joints that never complained now speak up in the morning. Eyes that once took in everything now flinch at the light. Breathing, which never required a single thought, starts needing little pauses. But none of that is the hardest part. The hardest part is the quiet. At a certain age, you reach for the phone and remember there is no one left to call. The people who knew you when you were young — who remembered the same summers, the same streets, the same faces — are gone. One by one, then all at once, until the memories you carry have no one left to share them with. So you tell the stories anyway. To whoever will listen. With a little more color than perhaps the truth deserves. With a touch of pride you've earned and a grief you don't always name. You know the person across from you wasn't there. You know they can't quite feel it the way you do. But you tell them. Because the telling is the holding on. Those stories are not just memories. They are the proof that a life was lived. That people were loved. That things mattered. And if no one asks for them — you offer them anyway, quietly, like setting something down on a table and hoping someone picks it up. Old age is not simply what happens to a face or a body. It is memory looking for a place to rest. And what an older person needs — more than advice, more than solutions, more than someone telling them how to feel — is simply someone willing to sit down, be still, and listen. Not to fix anything. Just to be there. That is the whole gift. And it costs nothing. ~Wild Whispers

It’s hard as we get older. I’m 63 and live in the same town as both my kids. One actually lives in the same household but I sit lonely as they don’t talk to me. It breaks my heart because I gave everything I had as they were growing up and now it’s just different. In a room full of people, I still feel so alone.

Heavenly Father, I pray for everyone in this chat who is hurting, who feels loneliness, who feel unseen, invisible, forgotten and forsaken. May your Holy Spirit visit them all and cover each one in a blanket of peace and joy. May they know that you see their pain and their fears, their struggles and their tears. May they find comfort tonight in your blessed name Jesus, I pray for all in this chat and their families. I pray for restoration of family bonds, may your presence be felt right now, amen.

I’m 80 and my children live far away from me. My phone never rings. And yes I’m disappearing. I look in the mirror and don’t know the person looking back. It’s very lonely to get old..🙏🏻😞😢

I reached out to my son in the same state of mind and my son turned around and said dad sell everything and move closer. I love you. I miss you. It broke my heart. I couldn’t move out fast enough to be closer to my son and his one year-old baby my brand new first grandson best move I’ve ever made. I’m a month into it.

I am 62 and very blessed. My son doesn’t live too far from me and stops by every day on his way home from work, his beautiful wife send dinner over if I cannot make it there. My daughter lives a bit further, but she brings my little Grandchildren over at least 3 times a week and we all hang out. Her husband helps me with my computer stuff lol. And I was just told we all are moving to Florida next summer….I am very excited and very blessed!

Biggest problem is expecting stuff back from your kids because you gave to them. It doesn’t work that way. Give without strings and then go do your thing! Don’t waste your precious life letting tears drop into your teacup. Get out there and do the things you’re afraid to do. Be proud of yourself for the life you’ve given family. But for heaven sakes don’t forget about YOU!!!

nothing to feel sad about if you understand the meaning of living and leaving, not dying. There is nothing that actually dies.

I am so fortunate to have both my parents still...they are approaching that time...it came like a thief in the night...suddenly and unexpectedly.
They live an hour away and we are doing everything we can to move them closer to me and my sisters... THEY DID EVERYTHING FOR US GROWING UP...I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN FOR THEM NOW❤️

Thanks Rowdy Yates, truth be told. I’m 73, found out on my birthday I was Stage IV pancreas cancer, it got into my liver and lungs. My time clock went from perceived infinity to any day. My wife and two sons are here for me. I’ve had the opportunity to express my love and feel theirs too. Wished for a different ending, but not in the cards. I’ve lived a good life, I am thankful and at peace. But still, I wish for a little more time and strength, to share with family and friend.

When I delivered groceries to the senior housing, they talked and talked and I listened and listened and then got in “trouble” for being gone too long. The 90 yr old painter had a lot to say and I wasn’t going to tell him I didn’t want to hear it! And the 80 yr old former broadway singer wanted to let me hear her play, & I sure as heck remember every note she sang. The fellow who grew up not far from where I did reminisced about hang out places he went to 40 yrs before I did and what they were like! I’ll take trouble over never having been part of that.
