We had the deeply moving privilege of being invited to hold a healing ceremony within the Witch House @Mystic Witch Harmony Rose While many know it for its connection to the Salem Witch Trials and its association with Judge Jonathan Corwin, the history held within its walls is layered and complex, it is the only surviving building in Salem with direct ties to the Witch Trials and today it stands as a rare physical witness to the fear, religious extremism, disease, violence, colonisation and loss. Elizabeth Corwin herself endured the deaths of many of her children in this house, carrying profound personal grief alongside the broader realities of the world around her. We believe Salem sits upon powerful ley lines and energetic crossroads and the Witch House itself sits along one of these pathways. When a place holds centuries of grief, trauma, loss and human experience, those experiences can leave an imprint. Over time the energetic layers accumulate and places then become portals. The pain held within this land did not begin in 1692, It reaches far back into colonisation, stolen land, violence, death and the attempted erasure of the Naumkeag people whose homeland this was long before Salem existed. We hold deep reverence for this history and recognise that the history carried by this land extend far beyond the time for which Salem is most widely remembered. Through our experiences within our practice, we have come to believe that when grief remains unseen it can continue to exist through people, families, communities and places. For us, healing is not about changing the past, it is about acknowledging it, bearing witness to it and allowing it to be seen. When suffering is witnessed and grief is honoured, it creates the possibility for something to shift. That was the intention behind our ceremony, to honour the stories held within this place and the land, to acknowledge the pain it has carried and offer healing into a place that has held so much for so long. What unfolded was one of the most profound experiences we have ever been part of and one we will carry with us for the rest of our lives. * Please note, filming is NOT permitted in the Witch House, we were given exclusive permission * #salem #witch #witchcraft #witchhouse
