@mel.orendi: One of the hardest lessons I’ve had to learn recently is that loving someone doesn’t always mean giving them unlimited access to you. Sometimes love looks like boundaries. Sometimes love looks like distance. Sometimes love looks like acknowledging that you can’t keep sacrificing your health, your wellbeing and yourself trying to save a relationship on your own. One of the most painful things I’ve learned is that love isn’t enough to sustain a relationship. Sometimes you can love someone with your whole heart and still need boundaries. Sometimes protecting your peace comes with grief. Sometimes choosing yourself feels like heartbreak. I’ve had to make some incredibly difficult decisions lately. Decisions I never imagined I’d have to make. And a part of me is grieving the decisions. Because when you care deeply, letting go of how you hoped things would be can be one of the hardest things you’ll ever do. But I’m slowly learning that choosing yourself isn’t always selfish. No matter how much love exists, it’s incredibly difficult to maintain a relationship when respect is missing. Sometimes it’s necessary. Sometimes the right decision is also the most painful one.
