@tuls_couture: Many people think tailoring is just about cutting fabric and sewing it together. I used to think the same way until I realized that the little details are what separate an average tailor from a professional one. 1. Learn the tools before chasing the designs. When I started, I wanted to make complicated outfits immediately. Looking back, understanding my tools, measurements, and machine would have saved me a lot of mistakes. 2. Master measurements before touching the fabric. A good outfit starts long before the sewing machine starts running. Accurate measurements can make the difference between a perfect fit and a complete remake. 3. Respect the fabric. Every fabric behaves differently. Some stretch, some shrink, some drape beautifully, and some require extra care. Learning fabrics early will make your work look more professional. 4. Don't underestimate practice. The first few things you make may not come out the way you imagined. Mine didn't. But every mistake taught me something I still use today. 5. Focus on neatness, not speed. Anyone can sew fast. Not everyone can sew clean. Take your time. Learn how to cut accurately, sew straight, iron properly, and finish your garments neatly. 6. Learn the process, not just the outcome. Most beginners only look at the finished outfit. Professionals understand the measurements, drafting, cutting, sewing, fitting, and finishing that happen behind the scenes. 7. Be patient with your growth. Tailoring is one of those skills that rewards consistency. The more you practice, the more your eyes begin to notice details and the more your hands learn precision. If you're just starting your tailoring journey, don't be discouraged by where you are today. Every skilled tailor you admire once struggled with measurements, machine control, and uneven seams. Keep learning. Keep practicing. One stitch at a time, you'll become the tailor you want to be.👌🧵✂️
