the problem is you waited too long. you should've started looking in 1983

Just bought our first house. It is like 30ish minutes for my husband to get to work but it’s in a farm area and was under our budget with what we wanted. Best advice I have is to be flexible. We were willing to live over an hour from his job only if we would have some land. The closer to the top of our budget the stricter I was on what I expected. I also was constantly looking. I checked our realtors website at minimum after breakfast and right before bed I checked Zillow throughout the day. We will have to drive to find stuff open late but we are both okay with that.

You forgot the part where you graciously do find something and put in an offer, and then you’re outbid by an all cash-no inspection offer over asking

I've come to terms with the fact that I'm never going to buy a house in this economy. I'm in my 30s.

at this rate I might as well save up $30k, buy a lot of land, and build my own. room by room.

My home is too big for just my husband and I but looks like we will be here forever now. I dont want to lose my 2.3% interest rate.

The problem is that we arent just competing with other people. We are competing with corporations, landlords, air bnbs, flippers, who can all afford to pay more than asking price and are trying to buy up as many homes as they can. We need laws to change!

With “as is” you can still do your inspections, just the info can’t be used to then get out of the contract.

keep looking. we had a hell of a time finding something in our budget. then one day our house came on the market. under budget, everything we want, move-in ready. listed on Monday, saw it on Wednesday, offered on Thursday, accepted on Friday.

This could be fixed easily with legislation. Make it illegal for companies to own residential property, and limit private ownership to like, 3 properties. Give them until the end of the year to sell, and watch the price of houses plummet as suddenly the supply matches the demand.

It's so defeating as an agent too. I miss when my buyers were excited about the process and not trying to figure out what they want to compromise on. it's no fun watching people get their hearts broken.

It's INSANITY. We bought a 3br 2.5 bath in 2017 for LESS than my sister just bought a 1br 1bath condo with a bunch of problems in the same area. It makes zero sense.

I ended up in a tiny one bedroom cottage that’s a fixer upper for 78500. On a half acre with a privacy fence. Already replaced roof and hvac. 👍 it’s ok. My mortgage is only like 600 a month
