FYI… salted water only takes an extra 15 seconds to boil… maybe 30 seconds

Salt does not “weight” it down…… salt changes boiling point. Early salt dissolves and evenly distributes in the water. It can delay boiling, but not because of what you say.

If you don’t salt the water , the pasta has NO flavor. You need a hefty handful.

I thought salted water lowers the boiling point and therefore boils faster? 🤔

Adding salt doesn’t change the boiling point of water more than seconds, but to all the negative Nancys pasta water is supposed to be freaking….SALTY.

I’ve always salted my water. But I’ve heard you’re supposed to add some of the pasta water to your sauce. Won’t that make the sauce too salty?

I believe the salt speeds the boiling by lower the boiling point temp, not the opposite.

Why don’t we just add salt when making the pasta itself?

Salt weighting down water is senseless. Takes longer to boil with salt bc salt raises the boiling point a little.
