Our daughters attendance officer was talking to us on our ring door bell as we were getting transfered from palma airport to hotel, it was 11am on the first day she was off, she’d only been off school 2 hours up to that point, AND we filled out the form to let the school know 🤦♂️🤣

Schools never used to be like this when I was a kid, and somehow despite several holidays I still managed to get all my GCSEs.. that I've never needed 😆😆 Enjoy life, they only get one childhood, family holiday memories are WAY more important than 100% attendance!

My daughter is on her first year at college and we went away 2 days before she broke up for half term. She emailed her teachers letting them know she wont be in for those two days. One told her to have an amazing time the other one gave her the thumbs up and a smile emoji 😂😂

Erm :
Holiday providers in the UK and abroad hike their prices to coincide with school holidays. There’s not a lot than can be done with that. We shouldn’t be penalising families for making holidays possible for their kids. Higher prices or school fines/other sanctions. Ridiculous.

my mum took me and my brother's on holidays before term was over a few times. we still passed all our high school exams, which nobody really asks for anyways, now my brother has his own business and I'm halfway through a law degree

As a member of the safegaurding team in a school, i love it when kids go on holiday, dont blame the parents at all and wish I could do the same but no contact at all is red flags, kids/families could be in danger and triggers a process we must follow. Just say your on holiday and when they will be back. Happy days. hope you've had the best time 🌞
