I don’t think she’s brain dead. I think she’s lived in fear for so long that she knows she will not get peace if she were to leave, she knows what he’s capable of. She’s probably been threatened if she leaves and chooses to stay because she’s numb. I hope she can find the strength to reclaim her life and walk away. Proud of you for being her voice even if she’s not ready to hear it.

Don't assume she is brain dead. Trauma is hard to break. Even if it's not good. she knows what it is. When you have been beaten down, sometimes that's not as scary as the unknown.

The trauma bond is very real and so difficult to break. The brain is changed by the repeated trauma making it more and more difficult to make a rational decision. It doesn't excuse what has happened to you. All you can do is protect your peace, your safety. Walk away. There's nothing you or anyone else can say to change her mind before she's ready. Stay safe.
