No exactly. People say there is no love triangle in Hunger Games because Peeta always felt like the home run choice- but the inner conflict was there and it serves a purpose narratively

The amount of people who simply don’t understand that Katniss DID in fact have feelings for Gale is always wild to me. In book one, almost every single time something is done about the katniss/Peeta romance she thinks of Gale immediately. The same way she didn’t see her friendship with Madge exist is the same way she didn’t recognize her feelings for Gale existing.

Y’all are saying there wasn’t a love triangle but there was. Katniss suffers with inner conflict throughout all 3 books between Gale and Peeta. She even makes out and cuddles with Gale in mockingjay. Even if Peeta was always going to be her final choice, she still had Gale in her consideration, and that counts

the point is whether the love is triangular to the character. we the audience obvi knew it was peeta all day, but katniss didnt. love was the one thing she literally sucked at which made her choices so difficult keeping the triangle existent and interesting.

I also think it feels like Bella didn’t really get to choose bc of how she idealized Edward and vampirism, and vampires’ natural allure. If he were human, I don’t think they would have been interested in each other.

Love triangles are really love V's like a real love triangle would be something completely different so different the people who like these story's wouldn't recognise or enjoy it, it would be way deeper and more complex tho
