DTLA has its gems but by and large it's in dire need of restoration, investment, and help. The easiest shorthand for that is that it sucks. Glad there are still people finding ways to appreciate and love it but I would not advise people who aren't prepared to visit.

I hear the same thing about KTown - particularly regarding parking. We do have beautiful Art Deco spaces in ktown but more than that, we have a very interconnected community. I’ve met people through Buy Nothing KTown and because of that I was able to connect to our community garden, to a crochet group, and made friends along the way. People forget that a neighborhood is not just about the spaces but about the people that fill them.
