I feel like, after leaving the church a few years ago to study on my own, I have studied myself out of belief 😭

This exactly what I learned as I was getting my history degree. A historian has to be careful of putting today’s standards/views on yesterday’s history. You have to put yourself in the mindset of the time you are looking at to totally understand it.

There is way more eisegesis than exagesis.

the way I remember it is
Exegesis - Extract from the Text or Example of Jesus
Eisegesis - I say this is what Jesus meant or I say this is what it means

I went to an accredited seminary. 🙋🏽♀️I remember when I learned those two words. We used to joke that eisegesis is “what I say, Jesus!” On a serious note, exegetical messages are what I preach. I’m not an entertainer. I’m an educator. I teach what the word says in its context, considering the audience, geographic location, cultural practices, etc. I LOVE IT!

I love this because how you explained the widows story is how I interpret it.

I appreciate the clarity. It is something my church encourages. Think Ask questions. It does not equate doubt with lack of faith, but an essential part of understanding

I didn't know the words for these. But, just yesterday, I was reminded of the man who listed his righteousness and the man who just pleaded for mercy. And then I was reminded of how Hezekiah listed his righteousness... And I was told to know where you're at in life to be able to pray in relevance

I seen a video you posted about this last year or so about it that’s was the first time I’ve ever heard about it. It has helped me so much in Bible study. I grew up in church and never heard them before. I took notes from you video and it’s in my study binder. Thank you for sharing important information
