Everything is the same height → If all your decor sits at one level, your space can feel flat. Create variation with different heights, stacked books, taller stems, oversized lamps, and layered objects to give the room movement. Your lamps are too small → My rule: always go bigger. Undersized lamps make furniture look off-scale. Oversized lamps instantly make a room feel more custom and designer. Using square art (or mirrors) over the bed → Bedrooms usually look softer and more elevated with longer, linear pieces or oversized matted artwork instead of a single square piece centered above the bed. Using poster-style wall art or large framed family photos → Instead, elevate your walls with oversized mats, texture, layered frames, artwork, or intentional gallery moments. Matting instantly makes art feel more expensive. Not using curtains to their full potential → Curtains should go high + wide. Mount them closer to the ceiling and extend beyond the window frame to make windows feel larger and ceilings feel taller.
