@jenna.lynn.lyons: Replying to @SuzyQsie63 Long story short, I didn’t ask for palliative care, but that is who manages all of my narcotic pain medication. I have had palliative care involved since the first month I was diagnosed stage 4. 💗 #palliativecare #cancertok #mbc #cancer #metastasis
Thank you, Jenna....I understand now. I'm sure since I have not reached that point yet with pain, it's not necessary. Thyroid cancer is a little different as it moves slowly and I am on "watch and wait". It is not curable but once the nodules become tumors they will most likely offer TKI's (tyrosine kinase inhibitors) depending on the size or whether it has spread further. Everybody is different. And there's always hope that something new will be discovered.....maybe a cure? I am thankful they caught the breast cancer so soon,.... I do not want to be treated with chemo. I did that once with the colon cancer and once is enough. Thankfully with the discovery of the gene mutation they watch me very closely. You are a true Warrior and I have much respect for you!

I really wasn’t aware your cancer was in so many places. I am really really happy cancer treatment has gotten better to keep people alive with metastatic cancer and keep their cancer somewhat managed. I’m not sure if I said that politically right but I am just really proud of you and thank you for sharing. ❤️

Palliative care seeks to control the discomforts and pain from the disease process and symptom control and comfort associated with treatment of the disease. The goal is to give quality to life while treating the disease. Hospice care differs in that the disease has advanced to the point of treatment no longer working and the goal is comfort as the disease progresses. Both were God sends for my husband as he battled Stage 4 non-squamous adenocarcinoma NSCLC of the right pleural lining.

Do you think I would qualify for palliative care for mental and emotional pain? I also have stage 4 mbc and sometimes the depression is so hard, it’s difficult functioning. Ty 🌷 You look fantastic by the way.
