@matthiaswilliams24: #5 rebar each way, top and bottom. This is not decoration. This is structural steel doing real work. When you read the plans, you need to understand: Bar size: #5 Direction: each way Placement: top and bottom mat Spacing: must match the structural drawings Inspection: must be passed before concrete is poured Concrete is strong in compression. Steel gives it tensile strength. Miss this detail and your slab, deck, or structural element can fail the inspection — or worse, fail in real life. Only a PE decides how much rebars you put in… his stamp is on the plans.

How did you determine the height of the Rebar, in the concrete, my assumptions, according to the Prints, is that number five is the. Rebar, size, and it's supposed to sit at 8 inches.

I am a program manager and these videos are so enlightening. I know enough to get by but usually have to have drawings explained to me.

That leaves you with 1 1/2” between top and bottom rebar. Assuming you hold 2” cover top and bottom. Usual they upsize the rebar and do each way centered. I normally don’t see EW, T&B until you get to 10” thick
