Exactly. My dog actively seeks out hugs, but I still dont let random people hug her. Ive actually started taking her an alternative route to avoid a group of kids that try to do this with her. I know she doesnt mind, but I dont want to encourage this behavior in kids because the next dog may not be as tolerant or friendly as mine.

I do not put my face anywhere near a dogs face that I don’t know. Which means my dog or maybe a friend’s dog. Now if it’s giving very clear body language that it wants to interact with me and the dog puts its face near mine that’s fine. Like the Great Dane I met at brunch a couple weeks ago that just happened to be face high to me while I was sitting down 🤣 but he was very sweet

My dog likes it with me she scoots up if I touch or cuddle up she lays her head down and relaxes but if others tried it or if she wasn't in the mood it would be different I assume she likes it I mention cuddles she gets excited and she calms down when I cuddle up or put my hand on her paw she lays her head on my hand and sleeps

yeah I would never get that close to a random dog. I rarely get that close to my own dog and when I do it's only to kiss his head because I can tell he gets uncomfortable after a second.

yeah as a groomer, I hate watching videos of groomers "calming" an anxious and stressed out dog by hugging them and giving them kisses. You are very fortunate that the dog is being very tolerant while it's stressed out. I wish more groomers took a course on reading body language.
